The kettlebell or girya is a traditional Russian cast iron weight looking somewhat like a cannonball with a handle. The kettlebell is a fantastic exercise tool to increase strength, endurance, agility and balance. Kettlebell workouts are intended to challenge the muscular and cardiovascular system with dynamic, total-body movements. They compliment the modalities of yoga, pilates and traditional lifting.

Having been involved in the fitness industry since 1989, Firmen has developed a talent for spotting valuable fitness modalities. He began training clients in the La Jolla area in 2004, and began Kettlebell workouts in 2007. “Due to several auto accidents, years of fighting, throwing and grappling, my right shoulder and neckline were continuously agitated. Within 3 months of training with kettlebells, my former routine of weekly massage therapy and chiropractor care became null and void. I now receive massages out of luxury rather than necessity.” Firmen is available for both private and semi-private/group instruction.
